VOTING IN MASSACHUSETTS: PROBLEMS & PROSPECTS

Arlington St. Church (Boylston & Arlington Sts.), Boston, MA

The Secretary of the Commonwealth plays a powerful role in our elections. Elections are the foundation of our democracy and independence.  Find out what's at stake.

Citizens groups engaged in election reform will pose questions to candidates for the office of Secretary of the Commonwealth, including John Bonifaz and Jill Stein.   Be there for this lively discussion>

How is Massachusetts doing?  Are we getting better?  Are we slipping?  Should you get involved?
Are Massachusetts voters ever disenfranchised - or does that only happen in states like Florida and Ohio?
Have you heard about the changes in our elections coming this fall?
What new machines is the Secretary of State choosing?  Do we have any say in it?
Will our system be as reliable next year as it was last year?
Has the way we've draw our districts cut out certain groups?
Did you know that the Voting Rights Act, hard won by Martin Luther King and others, is up for renewal?  Will Congress keep it strong?   Do we need to act now?
Is money corrupting the political process?
Should our public airways donate time to candidates for office?
