STEIN GARNERS TWO MORE ENDORSEMENTS FROM DAILY PAPERS

The Standard-Times of New Bedford and the Daily News Tribune of Waltham have both endorsed Jill Stein in this year's secretary of state race. In offering their endorsement, the editors at the Standard-Times write that "The voters need an activist secretary of state who will open up government on Beacon Hill. Complicated hundred-page bills such as the health care insurance bill are too often released from closed sessions in the 11th hour, giving the public no time for thoughtful review. This leads to problems like the fact the new health care law does not cover a large number of young people and may not provide adequate insurance for
many others."

The Daily News Tribune endorsement was virtually identical to the one that appeared in yesterday's MetroWest Daily News. The two papers are owned by the same parent company.

Stein is inspired by the endorsements, and hopes they will alert voters to the importance of their votes in the Secretary's race. "We're delighted our message is resonating. This is a clear choice between more of the same or the change we need to open up Beacon Hill. The media recognizes the need for an independent watchdog on Beacon Hill, to blow the whistle on waste and influence-peddling, and to restore our rights as taxpayers and voters to transparent, accountable government."
