We'll give thanks . . . for a smooth audit

audit.jpgThe election was two weeks ago, but we're still working at Jill Stein for President, and will be for months to come. The biggest task before us is our preparation for a full audit of campaign finances. Says Matt Kozlowski, our Director of Information:

"The Federal Election Commission doesn't break for Thanksgiving, and neither did we.

Our team has been hard at work putting our books in order for our upcoming FEC audit. We are sifting through files and crunching numbers to wrap up a long year of campaigning.

We are also working to keep up with the documentation required for federal matching funds. This includes three separate filings in the next two weeks."

At Jill Stein for President, we have shrunk our staff by 90%, meaning that just three staffers remain for the extended FEC audit period. In addition to Kozlowski, Tia Nowack remains as Associate Campaign Manager and I remain as Campaign Manager.

In addition to preparing the first-ever Green Party response to an FEC audit, the three of us are also working with the national Green Party and various state parties to ensure that the lessons and the resources developed by the campaign continue to strengthen our movement for years to come. Elements of this transition will include:

  • Training materials based on lessons learned from this and previous election cycles.
  • Campaign schools held in different regions of the country.
  • Connecting Jill Stein for President volunteers with their local, state and national Green parties.
  • Advocacy by Jill Stein, Cheri Honkala, and our campaign team in the continuing struggle against austerity and for a Green New Deal.

We will remain in contact with you in the coming weeks and months, and are thankful for your commitment to growing the Green movement here in the United States of America.
